I hope to write more about RV’s in general but thought I would start by letting all of you know what we will be living in during our extended trip (except for occasional hotel stays).

During the lock-down months of March, April, May and June of 2020 we researched RVs by watching YouTube videos and studying RV manufacturer brochures. Neither of us had prior experience camping in an RV. We were heavily influenced by videos by Neil Balthaser’s youtube channel, Ultramobility. Neil’s reviews drilled down into both what is in the van but the why this feature, or build-quality, is important. If you take a look at some of the reviews from 2019 you will see how they were both very detailed and helpful to someone looking at RV’s for the first time. Sadly, Ultramobility videos became sporadic early in the pandemic and ceased in July 2020.

We selected a Pleasure-Way Ontour 2.2. Pleasure-Way is a family-owned Canadian company located in Saskatoon, SK, Canadian and is know for high-quality build and great owner support. Both of which we discovered to be true!

We chose the Ontour 2.2 because it provided a comfortable lounge-work area that was very desirable during the pandemic.

It also has a compressor-refrigerator, on-demand hot water, a bathroom and shower, induction cooktop, convection-microwave and a queen-sized memory-foam bed. The combination of solar panels and lithium batteries allow us to camp without external power for as much as a week at a time. We are definitely glamping.

The OnTour is built on a Ford Transit 350HD chassis and has a 3.5L V-6 Gas Turbocharged engine. With dual-rear wheels it has super cargo capacity. Our rig is 22.5 feet long, 10.5 feet tall and is easy to drive. Typical parking spaces are 20 feet long so we can easily park at stores and will carefully fit into many street parking locations.
