Encountered along the way…

Visiting relatives in Ohio and Michigan and the gravesite of a college friend in Iowa doesn’t make for a particularly interesting read, but it did create precious memories for us. There have been beautiful, interesting and odd sites a long the way. Here are a few from the last three days.

A bridge in Ohio. Don’t worry, we kept our heads. Thank goodness it wasn’t Halloween.
Maybe Michigan????
Perfect lunch spot for two in a public park in Michigan.
We strolled through the W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden at Nichols Arboretum, University of Michigan. The Garden holds 800 peonies with 10,000 flowers at peak bloom. Photo does not do it justice.
We parked next to a vacant lot in Union Pier, Michigan covered with wildflowers. What a beautiful site!
Outdoor sculpture garden. Linda Hoffhines studio in Unit Pier, Michigan.
On the shore of Lake Michigan, inches from the water.
Wind turbine blade?
Riverside Iowa, The future birthplace of James Kirk. Joe’s hoping to beam up!
March 22, 2228? We should plan to visit again in 206 years.
Normal coffee? Normal Decaf? Who decides what is normal? And what does the blank button do?

Farmhouse Salad
Fresh Strawberries and Cashew Cream, topped with granola. Beer was very good, too.

  1. Hi Sue and Joe,

I’m enjoying all your entries and photos, but appreciate the special attention to food, of course! The farmhouse salad looks healthy and delicious, but the strawberries and cashew cream definitely has my name on it. In fact, on a hot night this week I made something very similar for dinner (minus the salad).

I had a pint of Lancaster Co. strawberries with the remains of a half gallon of vanilla ice cream and it was completely satisfying. I’m looking forward to more inspiration as you head across country and I’m glad to see you’re enjoying the craft cocktails!

    Drive carefully!

    Connie
