When was the last time you had to use a laundromat? Well, we’re here to tell you that it hasn’t changed much, if at all.
When you spend more than a week in an RV, you realized that you can’t put off doing the laundry for very long. The longer you wait, the heavier the laundry bag will be. Whether we do our laundry in a campground-provided facility or in a stand-alone laundromat, the currency of the realm is quarters.
Hoarding quarters for laundry brings Joe back to the time when parking meters in Philadelphia only accepted quarters. Quarters had to be saved and always available in your car. If you didn’t have a quarter, you couldn’t park.
Parking meters in Philadelphia began accepting credit cards decades ago, and now finally some laundromats have weened themselves off quarters.
It is difficult to put into words how gratifying it is to pay for laundry with your phone. Not quite as good as buying Cheetos from a vending machine with your phone, but close enough.
Good bye heavy bag of quarters!

Now, if we could just do something about pennies.
As we write this, it is in the 90’s in Salt Lake City. Happy Labor Day Holiday to everyone.
