This is the first year that we left for the travel season without fully dewinterizing our motorhome. Temperatures near Philadelphia in late March can dip below freezing, so we had planned to spend two days in the RV without water and travel the 600 miles to Myrtle Beach where we would flush the antifreeze, sanitize the water lines and descale the hot water heater. As it turned out, Mother Nature gave us four very warm days before we left so we were able to complete everything except descaling the hot water heater.

KOA campgrounds are all individually owned and managed. The Myrtle Beach KOA is especially nice as it is within walking distance (25 minutes) to the beach. There is also a shuttle bus that runs in season. The park is a “KOA Resort” meaning it has lots of amenities to keep children occupied.

It has a nice pool for adults and a splash pad for the little ones.

The laundry facilities and bathrooms are adequate. We generally only use the laundry facilities these days as we prefer to shower in our motorhome. We experienced just too many funky campground shower experiences to count!

This was our first Easter spent in the RV and it was great to see that the Campground had a special ride featuring the Easter Bunny and a huge Easter Egg Hunt. Very fun!

We especially like this camp and have stayed here twice because it’s so close to the ocean and yet is well isolated from the surrounding community. It is well forested, has a small lake with wildlife and spacing between campsites is generous.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this KOA, especially in the shoulder seasons when school is in session. You don’t need an RV to stay here! Cabins are available for rent. Some are rustic and others have electricity and small kitchens. There are also tent sites for the “real campers”.
