Another night of Libations

Sometimes it’s less expensive to build a winery than to keep your wife supplied with wine.” David DelMonaco on how he became the owner of a winery.

It was Sunday morning and our next stop was DelMonaco Winery in Baxter, TN. In order to arrive while DelMonaco was serving brunch we needed to drive 368 miles and arrive by 3 PM. We refueled twice during our drive and also ate a light snack. As the miles clicked by, arrival by 3PM was not looking likely so we resigned ourselves to missing brunch.

Then a miracle happened. Sue was behind the wheel driving as fast as she legally could and suddenly 3PM turned into 2PM.

We arrived just after 2PM and enjoyed a yummy brunch of poached and scrambled eggs. We were so hungry that we forgot to snap a photo of the meal. We also enjoyed sampling all the dry white and red wines on the menu and purchased a bottle to take back to the rig.

Still wondering how an hour vanished from our day? We crossed time zones! We were confused at first and then celebrated our good fortune. Who knew that the time zone changes in the middle of Tennessee?

Our next campsite will be a KOA in Marion, Arkansas.

  1. I have been thinking of you and hoping the weather cooperates with your itinerary. Sounds like you’re having a good time!

    1. Thanks, Kathy. This morning was a bit dicey with all the storms. Will post another blog soon with details.

  2. I literally laughed out loud about the time zone miracle. This has happened to Bobby before in his cross-country trips, but usually to his detriment!
