Sulphur Springs, in the northeast corner of Texas, was only planned to be a convenient overnight stay. However, as in this case, we have found that many small towns have one-of-a-kind features that provide a unique experience.
The Sulphur Springs town motto is “Just Play. Have Fun. Celebrate.” And that we did! The town was originally named “Bright Star” and became a city in 1854. Currently it is the county seat of Hopkins County. Here is Sue in front of the County Court House.

One of the more interesting aspects of the town center was its public restrooms. Consisting of four glass walls the restrooms have have an unusual feature.

What you see from the inside.

Remember the town’s motto, “Just Play. Have Fun. Celebrate.”
We stayed at another Harvest Host. The BackStory Brewery offered a nice selection of fresh-tasting beers. The taste reminded Joe of his own home-brewed beers.

The real standout was the food. The salsa was the best we have ever had and the Fajita tacos were amazing. All made for an enjoyable evening.

We spent the night 50 feet from the brewery entrance. We knew that the brewery was adjacent to train tracks used by commercial rail lines, so we expected our sleep to be disturbed by train noise. However, something else woke us early in the morning.
