Worlds Largest Pelican in Pelican Rapids, MN

We are still in Otter Tail County, home to Otto the Otter. This time, we are visiting the World’s Largest Pelican, Pete.

Located on the bank of the Pelican Rapids, which is also the name of the city, this sculpture was constructed in 1957. That makes Pete a year older than Joe. At 15.5 feet tall, the Pelican is also significantly taller than Joe, or Sue for that matter, and probably weighs more.

We are sorry to say we were unable to find any information concerning the artist who created Pete. We would love to know more. If you have any information, please send us a comment.

If you find yourself near Pelican Rapids, please make the effort to visit Pete. There is also a nice ice-cream shop very close-by.
