Small, community-run campgrounds are a rarity on the East Coast, so this was the first time we stayed at one. Barnesville is a small town with fewer than 3,000 people, but it manages to operate a 42-site campground with full hook-ups (water, electricity and sewer).

It also has 50 spots for tent camping with no services. There are also bathrooms and showers available.

At $40 a night with full hook ups, it’s very inexpensive. Definitely worth considering if you are passing through and only need a campsite for a single night. There is a pizza shop, chicken restaurant and general store/gas station in town. We had plenty of food with us and were trying to eat up leftovers before crossing the border into Canada, so we didn’t take advantage of any of these local services.
